Fashion via social media

As a dedicated shoe collector and clothes lover, I have recently noticed the high presence of fashion on social media through sponsored links and likes of friends.

Previously to participate in online shopping, I would have to seek sites. Nowadays they appear on my Facebook and Instagram news-feeds not only through likes of friends but through sponsored links.

By clicking on their link, it takes me directly to their site, where i can instantly purchase the product chosen for my viewing.

Recently I was purchasing some jewellery from a store in Marion. The checkout assistant, asked if i was on Facebook, and if i liked their page in front of her I was eligible for 10% off. Brilliant! who doesn’t love a discount?

I must admit I am guilty for liking clothing stores Facebook and Instagram pages. I love when companies post their new stock links on Facebook as it saves me time looking around in store. If i see something i like, i will venture into the store to try and buy. If I don’t like what i see, then I won’t bother going in and browsing.
This is potentially a pro and a con for stores promoting through social media. It will either attract clients to buy online or come in store, or alike my view, turn off customers from entering the store, because whats in stock isn’t appealing.

Finally, along with an increase in social media promotion is hard copy promotion. Today I purchased two pairs of boots from betts. On each box, stated all the platforms of social media Betts offers. Majority of stores nowadays do this, further promoting their products and brand.

I like the idea of it, but really how many of you actually venture onto a stores social media site because its listed on a box or bag? Should companies stick to social media via sponsoring? Let me know what attracts you as shoppers…
