Autism awareness through community marketing!

Autism is a lifelong developmental disorder which affects 1 in 100 people, with no cure. Autism is part of a spectrum that is often referred to as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

People with autism share challenges in two main areas, however, their condition can affect them differently. Some people are able to live relatively ‘normal’ everyday lives, while others may require ongoing specialist support and care.

Today I met a little dude who is Autistic who got me thinking about the disorder and the awareness and fundraising available. I took to google and came across AutismSA an Adelaide based organisation that educates and supports the disorder. I noticed on their site the promotion of the entertainment book (which is a book filled with discount vouchers and promotions.) The sale of the book through their website highlighted that 20% of every sale contributes to their fundraising.

The entertainment book helps to inject over $5 million dollars each year back into charitable and community organisations (like AutismSA) across Australia. By purchasing a book you will not only give back to local restaurants, hotels, cafes and stores, you are also helping charities again like AutismSA offer support and education to people who need it most. An affective way to support your local community and local charities!
