Firstly this blog post is purely about the social media war between Australia and Bali. This blog will NOT state my opinions on the executions of the convicted drug smugglers who were killed two days ago. Any comments non related to the social media war will be deleted. You can leave your arguing to Facebook. Thankyou!
Furious Indonesians have hit back at Australians who threatened to boycott the country following the executions of Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.
Thousands of Australians took to social media sites to voice their outrage over the use of the death penalty and urge people to cancel holidays to Bali, using the hashtags #BoycottIndonesia and #BoycottBali.
However it appears many Bali locals would actually be thrilled to have fewer of us flooding in to their country, even starting up their own hashtag in revenge, #BoycottAustralia.
Below are some of the tweets circulating social media sites from both Australians and the Balinese.
I even came across this small article in the local Adelaide newspaper- The advertiser, Where Aussie act, The presets were telling their fans to stop listening to their music if they disagree on their stance over the death penalty.
What do you think of the #boycott craze??
Have you been participating? Will the social media roundup stop you from visiting both Australia or Bali???
